Emergence of Yoga

Origin and development of the teaching of Yoga

(available in French, German, English, Italian, Greek and Spanish)

In the Vedic period, man, by the power of his concentration, obtained the vision of the Creator in the rituals he performed daily. The gradual decline of his abilities led him to develop certain techniques to support his spiritual approach. In the first part of the Emergence of Yoga, Sri T.K. Sribhashyam presents them to us: the genesis of dhāranas, prāṇāyāmas, āsanas, as well as other specific techniques. Yoga allows all individuals, whatever their beliefs, to develop their concentration and support their personal research. In the second part, Sri T.K. Sribhashyam describes each of these techniques, specifying its effects. Sample sessions show how to combine dhāranas, prāṇāyāmas, mudrās and āsanas in a clear progression. The many illustrations, especially of Sri T. Krishnamacharya, the father and master of Sri T.K. Sribhashyam, bring to this book an exceptional light on Yoga.

Blissful Experience, Bhakti - Quintessence of Indian Philosophy

T.K. Sribhashyam and Alamelu Sheshadri

(published in English and soon in French)

According to the philosophies of India, Bhakti, devotion, is the supreme path that leads to the emancipation of the soul. The book of Sri TK Sribhashyam and Srimati Alamelu Sheshadri entitled The Experience of Bliss, Bhakti - Quintessence of Indian Philosophy presents the different aspects of devotion, offering the reader the opportunity to follow the steps that lead to the experience of bliss. divine love. By quoting excerpts from the main texts that deal with devotion, the authors make an exhaustive synthesis of this vast subject, and by referring to the writings of the great philosopher Sri Rāmānuja, they highlight the interrelationship between man and God, and the means to implement to achieve union with the Divine.

From Devotion to Total Surrender, Śaraṇāgati Yoga
In the Light of Indian Philosophy

T.K. Sribhashyam and Alamelu Sheshadri

(published in English and soon in French)

In their third book, From Devotion to Total Surrender, Śaraṇāgati Yoga – In the Light of Indian Philosophy, Sri T.K. Sribhashyam and Srimati Alamelu Sheshadri present the way to reach perfection through a devotional approach. The tone is given from the Presentation: "Man, caught up in bondage from a beginningless time due to avidyā (ignorance) assumes that the self belongs to him and that he enjoys full freedom, thereby developing a sense of egoism. After gaining philosophical knowledge regarding the true nature of the self and its relation to God, he realises that the self is absolutely dependent on God. Regretting over the wrong notion he had nourished so far and with all sincerity, he pleads before God that the self does not belong to him but to God and offers it to Him. This method is self-surrender (śaraṇāgati). This process implies renouncement of three types of egoism: (1) one is the agent of action, (2) it belongs to him and (3) the fruit of the act is for him. "

The philosophical writings of India proclaim unanimously that one must take advantage of one's human birth to advance the soul (jīvā) towards perfection. The way to do this is to design something that has a perfect shape.

The Absolute is beyond thought and speech, and therefore can not be an object of devotion. The perfect form is Iṣṭa Devatā, the God chosen by everyone.

After a chapter devoted to the universality of the teachings of Sri Rāmānuja, especially on the Spiritual Consciousness (Śudda sattva), a practical approach of the explicit method concludes this volume: the reader knows from now on the sevenfold way and holds all the elements allowing him to implement Śaraṇāgati Yoga.

Discours sur le Râmâyana

T.K. Sribhashyam

transl.: Discourses on the Rāmāyaṇa (upcoming in French, 2019)

Sri T.K. Sribhashyam's Discourses on the Rāmāyaṇa are collected in a single volume to be published in 2019. The two Indian epics are Rāmāyaṇa and Mahābhārata. Yogakshemam students were able to benefit from Sri T.K. Sribhashyam's "Course" on the Mahābhārata. The Rāmāyaṇa has a special status in the literature of India, which is why Sri T.K. Sribhashyam offered "speeches" on Rāmāyaṇa in the name of his father, Sri T. Krishnamacharya.

Prince Rāma fights the forces of evil incarnated by the Rākṣasas, bloodthirsty demons who go so far as to abduct his own wife, Princess Sītā. This will result in a war in which the Prince, aided by an army of Monkeys and Bears, will defeat the demons on their island of Lānka to free Princess Sītā from captivity.

Sri T.K. Sribhashyam's speeches touch on many topics that cross the narrative, from the philosophy of action to the different types of devotion, through the values bestowed on the family or the hidden power of the Rāmāyaṇa.

La psychologie indienne, manovijñāna

T.K. Sribhashyam, Cristina Blanchelande

transl.: Indian Psychology, manovijñāna (forthcoming in French)

Breath of Gods - A Journey to the Origins of Modern Yoga

Modern yoga, that is, the form practiced daily by tens of millions of people around the world, goes back directly to the god Shiva according to Indian tradition. At the same time, however, modern yoga originated in the early 20th century, a creation of Indian savant T. Krishnamacharya. That story is far less known and is what this film is all about. Krishnamacharya’s life and teachings are seen through the eyes of the director Jan Schmidt-Garre on his search for authentic yoga. His journey leads him from the legendary students and relatives of Krishnamacharya’s to the source of modern yoga, at the palace of the Maharaja of Mysore. From Pattabhi Jois Jan learns the “Sun salutation”, from Iyengar the “King of Asanas”, the headstand, and finally Sribhashyam reveals to him his father’s secret “Life Saving Yoga Session”. A feature-length documentary including rare historical footage as well as lavish reenactments.
